Minot man flees police, crashes

Shawn Michael Mahle, 22, Minot, allegedly fled from police early Thursday morning. The pursuit, which took place over three different streets, ended when Mahle struck the curb on Fourth Street Southwest and was thrown from his motorcycle.

Just after 1:15 a.m. Minot police observed a motorcycle allegedly speeding in excess of 30 miles over the posted limit on 16th Street Southwest and attempted to stop the operator. Mahle continued to ride down 16th Street before turning east onto 31st Avenue Southwest, and then on to Fourth Street Southwest before crashing.

Wearing full protective gear, including a helmet, Mahle suffered only minor injuries in the crash.

He was cited for fleeing in a motor vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor; refusal of a chemical test, a Class B misdemeanor; speeding; no liability insurance; and violation of an instructional permit.
