MSU 3rd midway through Erv Kaiser Invitational

OXBOW – Minot State University junior Kowan O’Keefe and senior Casey Gleich turned in strong performances Monday at Oxbow Country Club and the MSU men’s golf team finished the second round of the Erv Kaiser Invitational in third place.

O’Keefe was 3 over par at 147 after 36 holes for fourth place and Gleich shot 149 for fifth place. The Beavers carded a 36-hole score of 613.

University of Manitoba leads the field at 592 and North Dakota State University posted a 609 for second place. Manitoba’s Charlie Boyechko sits 3 under par at 141 in first place.

The nine-team event finishes with 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m. today.

MSU women finish first day of UND Fall Classic in last

GRAND FORKS – After two rounds, the Minot State University women’s golf team sits in fifth place at the University of North Dakota Fall Classic.

The Beavers recorded a 36-hole score of 718 to open the five-team event Monday at King’s Walk Golf Course and trail fourth-place University of Nebraska at Omaha by 50 strokes.

North Dakota State University fired a 622 to lead the field by 29 strokes. NDSU’s Sarah Storandt finished day one atop the leaderboard at 7-over-par 151.

Sophomore Danielle Foster, a Minot High product, paced the Beavers with a 172, good for a 20th-place tie. Senior Rebecca Heinitz is one stroke behind in 24th place.

The final round begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. today.
