Open houses set on draft plan for bus service

The public is invited give feedback on a plan for improving Minot’s city transit service at open house meetings next week.

The city and its consultant have prepared a draft transit service plan after completing a comprehensive review of the existing transit system and receiving extensive community input on needs and priorities.

Project planners and city representatives will explain the plan and take comments at open houses Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center on the Minot State University campus and Thursday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in Dakota Square Mall. Input is needed to help prioritize short- to long-term transit improvements.

People can visit ( to get the latest information on the study, including a link to the Existing Conditions report that is the basis for the improvement strategies being presented.

Key findings of previous community surveys included a need to expand service hours into the evening, add weekend service, improve marketing of the services and better integrate transit with other modes, particularly pedestrian and bike connections.
