Flu vaccine clinics coming to Minot
The First District Health Unit in Minot will soon be offering several clinics for the flu vaccine at various times that will be available for any and all people.
Currently, flu vaccines are being offered at work sites, but starting at the end of the month, flu clinics will be held for those who did not receive a vaccination at their place of employment.
The first flu clinic will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Municipal Auditorium, and again on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Auditorium. There will be another flu clinic at Walmart Oct. 10, 11, and 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and also at Marketplace Foods on Broadway on Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Additionally, the First District Health Unit will give flu vaccines on a walk-in basis starting Monday, Oct. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday and that will be available until the supply runs out.
Penny Hamilton, director of nursing at First District Health Unit, said they will bill people’s insurance company and Medicaid or Medicare so people will need to bring along their insurance information. Also, she added, the First District Health Unit keeps their records so they will usually have insurance information from people who have had flu shots before.
Hamilton said there is usually a big turnout of people at the flu clinics. “We’re (the First District Health Unit) probably the largest provider of the flu vaccine in Ward County.”
