Tauros edge Springfield (Ill.) for first win

BLAINE, Minn. – The Minot Minotauros picked up their first win of the season Friday, defeating Springfield (Ill.) 2-1 on the third day of the North American Hockey League Showcase.

Tauros captain Tim Donohue scored the first goal of the game at 18 minutes, 30 seconds of the first period and assisted on Jack Forbort’s goal 1:30 into the second frame to give Minot (1-1-1) a 2-0 lead.

Brendan Jacques scored with less than two minutes remaining in regulation for the Jr. Blues (1-2).

Minot goaltender Brandon Wildung recorded 36 saves.

The Tauros finish the showcase at 12:30 p.m. today against Michigan.
