Colorado man dies in vehicle incident

WATFORD CITY An unidentified 29-year-old Grand Junction, Colo., man died Monday in a mysterious runover incident at about 9:37 p.m. at the intersection of 11th Avenue Southwest and Fifth Street Southwest in Watford City.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2012 GMC 3500 Denali dually pickup truck was headed northbound on Fifth Street toward the 11th Avenue intersection when the 29-year-old man may have exited the vehicle through the sunroof, fell off the vehicle and then was run over by the front passenger tire.

The driver of the vehicle is unknown and a spokesperson in the Williston patrol office said that the driver was not at the scene when troopers and other law enforcement officers arrived. Two other occupants were, though, although neither have been identified by name. One is a 26-year-old man from Cameron, Wis., and the other is a 31-year-old man from Watford City.

Authorities have said that alcohol was involved in the incident but it remains under investigation.
