Fall fun at Berry Acres

Ayden Oldham headed straight for the white pumpkins at Berry Acres Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze, just west of Minot, Tuesday.

Nearly sitting down, the 1-year-old touched the stem of the pumpkin and then tried to lift it, but it would not budge.

Not far away his sister, Amari, 4, along with Isabel Rios, 4, and her sister, Olivia Rios, ran to the corn box to begin playing sitting in the corn box and filling buckets with the kernels.

Amari and Ayden are the children of Tory and Bri Oldham and the family is new to Minot. They recently moved here from Utah.

Isabel and Olivia are the children of Jose and Shannon Rios, of Minot Air Force Base. Shannon said they were at Berry Acres last Thursday, spent about three hours there and decided to return Tuesday.

Calvin and Ashley Berry opened Berry Acres for this season on Sept. 14, just a few days before the first day of fall on Sept. 22. The business opened in 2010. But they were flooded in 2011 and did not open that year so this is their third year of operation, Ashley said.

Activities at Berry Acres include train rides, an 8-acre corn maze, a mini maze, obstacle course, pedal carts and corn box. It’s open every day. Hours are Monday to Friday from noon to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

This past Sunday, about 1,000 people visited the Berry Acres, Ashley said. She said they will be open to Oct. 31, depending on the weather. They are located at 4605 County Road 15 West.
