Mouse River Players group announces 2013-14 season

Season tickets are now available for the 41st season of Mouse River Players Community Theatre. All shows will be held at The Arlene Saugstad Theater, downtown Minot, 115-1st St. SE. Season ticket holders have early reservation privileges but reservations must be made for each play by calling the reservation line at 1-866-667-1977. Reservations are now being taken for the first play, “Almighty Bob,” which will be presented Oct. 10-12, at 7:30 p.m., and Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. Individual tickets for that play are $10.

“In the tradition of the movie ‘Oh, God,’ author Tom Mula looks at an elderly man who thinks he’s God and is sometimes right. A touching, funny, and warm study of aging, love, human relationships and religion,” play information said.

“All My Sons,” by Arthur Miller, will be performed Jan. 16-18, at 7:30 p.m., and Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. It is called “Miller’s best-known play, next to ‘Death of a Salesman,’ is a searing look at corporate politics and family relationships. A tremendously impressive drama that received the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play.”

“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” a family musical, runs March 13-15, at 7:30 p.m., and March 16, at 2 p.m. “Based on Charles Schultz’ timeless comic strip Peanuts, Clark Gessner has created a perennial audience favorite musical. The family-friendly atmosphere brings Charlie Brown and his friends to life and examines life through their eyes,” according to play information.

And “Over the River and Through the Woods,” a comedy by Jon DiPietro, will be performed May 8-10, at 7:30 p.m., May 11, at 2 p.m. According to information, “This intimate, hilarious and poignant look at generation gaps and the immigrant experience will ring a bell for all audience members.”

Mouse River Players will also stage a musical revue, “Seasonally Yours,” the weekend after Thanksgiving but that is a separate fundraiser and not part of the season ticket package.

The four main shows plus one additional ticket for any performance of choice, except the music revue, is $45. Season ticket requests may be sent with a check to Mouse River Players, P.O. Box 1645, Minot, ND 58702. Mouse River Players is not able to accept credit cards or debit cards. Call the MRP office at 838-3939 for more information.
