M-L-S defeats Bishop Ryan in four sets

MOHALL – Gabbie Bohl’s 18 kills weren’t enough as the Bishop Ryan volleyball team lost in four sets to Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood in a District 12 match Thursday.

The teams split the first two sets before the Mavericks took the next two for the 25-18, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20 victory. M-L-S junior outside hitter Callie Carlson finished with a team-high 15 kills and senior setter Shania Brackenbury had a match-high 21 assists and three aces.

The loss eliminates the Lions from contending for the No. 1 seed in the district tournament. M-L-S hosts Our Redeemer’s Christian School at 7 p.m. Tuesday for the regular-season district title. The loser will be the No. 2 seed.

Ryan competes in the Northwest Conference tournament at Kenmare on Saturday.

MHS football game to be webcast by students

Minot High School students will provide play-by-play and commentary for tonight’s football game against Jamestown on Webcast America at 7 p.m.

Students will be gaining broadcast experience throughout the year covering varsity athletics and other school events. Due to copyright laws, music and choir performances cannot be webcast.

Three sports featured at MSU luncheon

The Minot State University football, women’s soccer and volleyball teams will be represented at the noon luncheon series Friday at Seven’s Restaurant in the Vegas Motel.

MSU football coach Paul Rudolph, women’s soccer coach Jason Spain and volleyball coach Travis Ward are the featured speakers this week. In addition, student-athletes Kalvin Larson, Logan Jones and Wayne Peters will represent the football team. Emilie Rebelo, Taylor Carlstrom and Taylor Franco will speak for the soccer team and Brooke French, Mallory Sall and Whitney Hightower will represent the volleyball squad.

The luncheon series is $9 per person and is open to the public.
