DUI driver kills Tioga man early Sunday morning

TIOGA Jessi Bishop, 23, Tioga, died shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday when a vehicle he was driving was struck on the driver’s side at the intersection of First Street and Torning Street in Tioga. The driver of the other vehicle was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Bishop was driving a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck east on First Street when he entered the intersection and was struck by the southbound 2012 GMC pickup truck driven by Ira Tanner, 21, Lucedale, Miss..

Tanner was injured, as was passenger Justin Gass, 34, Hot Springs, Ark. A third passenger, Jody Ramsey, 41, Ross, was the only person in either vehicle wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. Michael Duncan, 24, the passenger in Bishop’s truck, was also injured.

Tanner may be prosecuted on different charges after information is submitted to the state’s attorney’s office, according to Capt. Gary Orluck of the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
