Ilean Janet Rohe, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, in a Minot nursing home.
Ilean was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Bowbells, to Fostman and Henrietta (Hansen) Rohe. After graduating from Bowbells High School, she began nurse’s training at Trinity Hospital in Minot and graduated in 1948. It was during her training days at Trinity that she came to know the Lord, Jesus as her personal Savior. In preparation for serving Him, she attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, graduating in 1955. For a time, she was employed by the Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis and later at the House of Mercy in Fargo.
In 1955 until 1962, Ilean served as a nurse in a mission hospital in Neuman, Nigeria, under the Sudan United Mission. Upon returning to the United States, she worked at the Kenmare Hospital for a time and then at Memorial Hospital in Long Beach, Calif. She enjoyed her ministry at an Indian hospital in beautiful Shiprock, N.M., from 1966 to 1970. She returned to Long Beach to be with an elderly aunt while working at the veterans hospital there. Later she worked at the Grand Avenue Convalescent Hospital until retiring in 1989.
She moved to Minot in June 1989, where she was an active member of Bethel Free Lutheran Church.
Her loving family includes: sisters, Deloris Rohe, Minot, Romona Dover, Buffalo, Mont.; along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Ilean was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Milton and Eugene; sisters, Lowell Stenrude Shervey and Dorothy Anderson.
Funeral service: Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at 11 a.m., in Bethel Free Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Monday, one hour prior to the service, in the church.
Memorials: Are preferred to Bethel Free Lutheran Church.
