MSU women’s soccer team falls in overtime

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State’s Jessie Voeller scored the game-winning goal less than four minutes into overtime in a 2-1 win against the Minot State University women’s soccer team Sunday at Chet Anderson Stadium.

BSU’s Mary O’Brien delivered a cross-goal pass to Voeller, who buried a shot into the open net for BSU’s first lead of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match.

MSU (5-7-3 overall, 5-6-2 NSIC) led 1-0 at halftime on freshman forward Chloe Melton’s goal in the 12th minute. It was Melton’s fourth goal of the season.

BSU (11-5, 8-4) forced overtime with Christine Szurek’s tally in the 75th minute.

The loss snapped MSU’s four-match unbeaten streak while falling to 1-3-3 in overtime.

MSU hosts its last home game of the season against Northern State at 1 p.m. Friday.
