Sub’s christening can be viewed via live video
The submarine USS North Dakota (SSN-784) will reach another milestone in her build on Saturday.
As the state celebrates its 124th anniversary, its namesake submarine will be christened by ship sponsor Katie Fowler, wife of retired Vice Adm. Jeff Fowler.
The event, which will take place in Groton, Conn., will be broadcast live at 10 a.m. on Saturday by Dakota Community Access on government access cable channel 2 and online at (www.freetv.org). It also will be recorded for playback on (www.freetv.org) and for reruns on channel 2.
“This November 2nd christening is bringing USS North Dakota closer toward joining the fleet where she will carry the name of our great state of North Dakota throughout the world’s oceans,” said Bob Wefald, Bismarck, USS North Dakota Committee chairman.
