Five Guys in four months
One of the most popular and fastest growing restaurant chains in America will be opening a franchise in Minot in early 2014.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries boasts more than 1,300 locations. They are found in all 50 states, Canada and in London, England. Minot is expected to be added to the list by mid-March.
“Minot is a great business town,” said Mort Bank, owner, Bismarck. “This will be our fourth Five Guys. The Minot store will seat about 65. We anticipate hiring about 25 to 30 employees.”
Bank’s partners are Brad Bender, Dave Glaser and Brandon Helbling, all from Bismarck.
The location of Minot’s Five Guys will be in the Southgate Crossing complex at the corner of 16th Street and 35th Avenue Southwest. It will be located at the south end of a mini-mall facing 16th Street. According to Bank, a coffee shop is slated to be an adjacent business within the mini-mall. The area is one of the fastest growing sections of the city.
Five Guys has carved a niche in the restaurant business that customers all across the U.S. enjoy. The stores have no freezers, only coolers. Hamburgers are made each day from fresh ground beef that is never frozen. French fries, a signature item at Five Guys, are cut in-store each day.
“There’s no drive through because all food is made to order,” said Bank. “You walk in, order food and sit down. The fries are absolutely to die for. I’ve spent a lot of time in restaurants and they are one of my favorites. Everything is made in the restaurant.”
Numerous toppings are available for hamburgers at Five Guys. Other items on the menu include a veggie sandwich, grilled cheese, BLT’s and four choices of hot dogs. Red and white checkering is a recognizable appearance for Five Guys which is described as a “fast casual” restaurant.
Currently there are Five Guys locations in Fargo, Grand Forks and Bismarck. According to Bank, a second location is under consideration in Bismarck. Future plans include opening a Five Guys in Dickinson in 2015 and an additional one in Williston at a date yet to be determined.
