Amos ‘Burton’ Clark

Burton Clark, 85, Minot, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, in his home.

Amos Burton Clark was born on Sept. 27, 1928, a son of Roy L. and Ada (Anderson) Clark, near Greene. He attended school in Callahan Township and Lansford Public School until the age of 14, when he took over the operations of the family farm, following the death of his father.

On Nov. 10, 1995, he was united in marriage to Janet (Rowland) Funke in Minot. They made their home in Minot, and spent the winter months in Yuma, Ariz., for the past 17 years.

Burton was a member of the Bethel Free Lutheran Church, Minot, where he was active with several ministries of the church. He was also an avid horseshoe pitcher. He competed at several state and national events, eventually being inducted into the North Dakota Horseshoe Pitcher Hall of Fame in Jamestown.

He is survived by: wife, Janet, Minot; brothers, Roy (Marge) Clark, Williston, Harold (Carol) Clark, Sherwood; sisters, Ethel Flom, Hastings, Minn., Mavis Nass, Cando, and Helen Sandy, Westhope; stepchildren, Robin Funke, Wilmington, N.C., Mark Funke, Bakersfield, Calif., Lynn Quinn, Clarksville, Tenn.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Burton was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gertrude; and a brother, James.

Visitation: Monday, Nov. 11, from noon until 5 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Graveside service: Will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m., at the Grano Cemetery, Grano.

Funeral service: Tuesday, at 2 p.m., at Bethel Free Lutheran Church, Minot.

Memorials: May be given to the Bethel Free Lutheran Church, 530-22nd Ave. NW, or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
