Norma Blonigen, 87, Garrison, formerly of Douglas, died on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at a Garrison hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m., at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison. A rosary will be said on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m., at the church.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from noon to 5 p.m., at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Norma was born March 3, 1926 in Douglas, N.D., to Charles and Edna (Smith) Erb, the second of four children. She and her brothers enjoyed pets and she took care of cats for many years of her life. She attended Miller grade school and graduated from Douglas High School. She lived with her family on the Miller farm south of Douglas.
On July 13, 1953, she married Leo Blonigen at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Douglas. They lived on the former Alois Blonigen farm, where she was a farm wife for 25 years. They moved into Garrison in 1986. Leo died in 1995, and Norma continued living at their home on 2nd St NE in Garrison.
Norma enjoyed cooking, drawing, embroidery and being with her family, especially her daughters, Janet and Mary Ann, and her niece, Jean Blonigen. She deeply appreciated the care she had at the Garrison Memorial Hospital.
Norma is survived by: her daughters, Mary Ann Blonigen, Garrison, Janet Blonigen, Minot; sister, Geraldine Reynolds, Garrison; special niece, Jean Blonigen, Mobridge, S.D.; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Ronnie Arndt and Gene Erb.
