Mon-Dak honors area athletes

Williston State College basketball players Houston Lavachek and McKayla Haugeberg were named Mon-Dak Conference players of the week.

Lavachek, a 6-foot-8 forward from Glenburn, averaged 24 points and 6.7 rebounds in three wins as the Tetons moved to 5-0. He shot 51 percent from the field.

Haugeberg, a 5-foot-6 freshman guard from Watford City, earned the women’s honor for the second straight week by averaging 17.3 points and 6.3 rebounds in three games.

MSU to host final fall luncheon

The Minot State University athletic department will continue its Noon Luncheon Series today at Seven’s Restaurant in the Vegas Motel.

Coaches and student-athletes from football and volleyball will appear for the last time, as both programs host their final events of the season this weekend. The football team plays Bemidji State at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and the volleyball team hosts Augustana at 7 tonight and Wayne State at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The event costs $9 per person and is open to the public.
