Neva Wills, 66, Velva, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013.
Neva Marie Harne was born in Wadena, Minn., on April 22, 1947, to Marvin Carl Harne and Gladys (Marshall) Harne. She lived in Harvey before moving to Velva where she attended Velva High School, serving as a cheerleader and majorette for the Aggies in her high school years. She married Gary Wills at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva, on Jan. 27, 1964. Together they had three children, Robbie, Melanie and Michelle.
Neva and Gary lived in Velva for many years until Gary’s employment opportunities took them to Fernley, Nev., and later to Beulah. Upon retirement, Neva and Gary returned to Velva, the place where they had raised their children and the place that felt most like home.
Neva took great pride in her home and her family. She had a talent and passion for decorating and design. She was an incredible cook and her home was often filled with the smell of freshly baked bread. Neva loved to shop and she had a generous and giving spirit toward her family and others. Neva loved her grandchildren deeply and she was always offering up words of encouragement to them in their endeavors. She was a woman of deep faith and while we will miss her dearly, we find great comfort in knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven with the Lord and is once again reunited with her beloved son Robbie, whom she had lost and missed so much.
Neva was preceded in death by: her parents, Marvin and Gladys Harne; her in-laws, Ralph and Margarette Wills and Lois and Carl Springstead; brother, Gene Harne; and her son, Senior Chief Robbie Jay Wills.
She is survived by: her husband of 49 years Gary, Velva; daughters, Melanie Duchsherer, Minot, and Michelle (Carl) Hartsfield, Beavercreek, Ohio; her daughter-in-law, Grace Wills, Olongapo City, Philippines; grandchildren, Margarette, Ryan, Jasmine and Angel Wills, Christopher (Amy) Duchsherer and Matthew (Samantha) Duchsherer, and Karli and Megan Hartsfield.
Graveside service: will take place Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. at the Velva Community Cemetery, Velva.
