Power disruption in downtown Minot Thursday
Various places in Minot reported that their power was temporarily disrupted. Confirmed disruptions occurred at The Minot Daily News building and the lights flickered in a section of the Ward County Courthouse in downtown Minot.
While a representative from Xcel Energy was not available for comment by Thursday evening, some unofficial police reports indicate that a transformer “blew up” on the east side of the street in the 600 block of Fourth Avenue Northeast, which may have been the reason for the disruption.
Unofficial police reports after this event show that people were stuck in elevators in at least two Minot locations, which may also have been connected to the outage.
