Betty Jeanne Greenwood
Betty Jeanne Greenwood, age 83, of Bottineau, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at a Minot hospital.
Betty Jeanne Greenwood, daughter of Clebert and Marie (Flint) Everson, was born on June 23, 1930, in Bottineau. She moved with her family to Park River and later to Tacoma, Wash. She and Gordon Greenwood were joined in marriage on May 10, 1947. They made their home in Park River where Betty Jeanne worked at the ASCS office. They moved to Bottineau in 1958 and she worked at the Benson-Schell Law Office. In 1970, they moved to Minot and Betty Jeanne worked at the Pringle and Herigstad Law Firm. They later moved to Lake Metigoshe. She worked at Bottineau Furniture for a time and she was a field manager for NORC out of the University of Chicago. She also worked for the U.S. Census Bureau until she reached 80 years of age.
Betty Jeanne was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and for a time was the director and worked with the youth groups. At the time of her death, she was a member of United Parish of Bottineau. She was an active member of the Eagles Club and the Rebekah Lodge, where she served as president. She enjoyed music, teaching piano, reading and singing, especially in the performance of the “Messiah” in Minot. Throughout the years, she enjoyed golfing, curling, dancing, playing cards and working in her flower garden.
She is survived by: her daughters, Tana (Hank) Faber of Indianapolis, Dawn (Doug) Freeman of Minot and Randy (Steve) Gorder of Bottineau; sons, Scott (Debra Coogan) Greenwood of Dallas and Reid (Jelena) Greenwood of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; grandchildren, Christine (John) Pence, Michelle (Dave) White, Amy (Tony) Baker, Nicole (John) Kutch, Nathan (Nichole) Freeman, Kelsey (Tracey) Gorder, Corey (Mary) Gorder, Dana Greenwood, Torey Greenwood, Anna Greenwood and Nicolas Greenwood; great-grandchildren, Cooper Thompson, Taylor and Brett Baker, Ashlyn and Haeven Freeman, Will and Grace Kutch, Sydnee and Kole Gorder and James, Lewis, Warren and Norah Gorder; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her son, Taylor Roy Greenwood; brother, Harold; sister, Donna Marie.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Parish in Bottineau.
Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery, Bottineau.
Visitation will be today from noon until 9 p.m. at the Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau.
