Polak, Beavers shine at Jamestown Open

JAMESTOWN – The Minot State University wrestling team had its best performance of the season Saturday at the University of Jamestown Open, placing six of its grapplers in the top six of their respective weight classes.

Sophomore Marcus Polak went 3-0 and won the championship in the 165-pound division. Josh Douglas (133 pounds), Ricards Avakovs (157) and Tiger Paasch (174) each finished second.

“It was a pretty good day for us,” MSU coach Robin Ersland said in a press release. “Marcus had an outstanding meet as he won his weight class and beat some impressive wrestlers. As a team, we once again showed improvement and put forth a solid effort.”

The Beavers have the week off before traveling to the Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragon Open on Dec. 7.
