Victor D. Witteman, 81, Minot, formerly of Westhope, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services in Minot.
Victor Dale Witteman was born Feb. 22, 1932, the son of Ed and Christine (Wright) Witteman, in Westhope. He was raised and educated in Westhope, graduating from Westhope High School in 1950.
Following his high school graduation, he attended Minot State Teachers College for a year and then attended North Dakota State Agricultural College, now North Dakota State University, in Fargo, where he received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
He worked as a mechanical engineer for Hughes Aircraft Company in Los Angeles for a couple of years, and then for various companies throughout California.
He furthered his education by attending the University of Southern California, where he earned Plant, in southeastern Montana, for a few years. He then returned to the family farm and farmed until moving to Minot in 1992.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Minot.
Surviving family includes: brother, Gary Witteman, Portland, Ore.; sister, Norma Bennett, Grand Forks; and one niece, three nephews and a few cousins.
Victor was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Margaret Darlene Witteman; sister-in-law, Dorothy Witteman.
Funeral and sharing of memories: Friday, Nov. 29, at 1:30 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
Interment: Westhope Cemetery, Westhope.
