Mildred Edwards, 95, Kenmare, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, in a Kenmare hospital.
Mildred Irene Gleave was born on Nov. 10, 1918, one of 10 children born to Harry and Bertha Gleave, on the family homestead that is now Iverson Lake Lostwood Refuge, where she was raised and educated. The family moved to the current farmstead in 1936.
On June 27, 1942, Mildred was united in marriage to Milford Edwards in Sidney, Mont. They made their home on the Edwards farm, located in Diamond Township, Burke County. She assisted her husband with the operations of the farm, working with cattle and farming. Their son, Lee, also farmed with his parents. Milford passed away Oct. 26, 1996. Following his death, Mildred remained on the farm, where she lived until the winter of 2012.
Mildred was an avid musician and you could always hear her singing “I’m walking the floor over you” and yodeling. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
Mildred is survived by: daughter-in-law, Diane Edwards; grandchildren, Wade Edwards and Randy Edwards; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Jarret, April, Brooke and Kayla; great-great-grandchildren, Trey, Sophia, and Breah; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milford; son, Lee; two infant children; grandson, Jeffrey, an infant granddaughter, Mary Verenda; seven brothers, Marshall, Harry Jr., Charles, Walt, John, Clifford, Ray; and two sisters, Etta and Mae.
Funeral service: Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Powers Lake.
Burial: Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, Powers Lake.
Visitation: Today, Nov. 29, from 4 until 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Powers Lake.
