Delores Knutson, 80, from Stanley, died Monday, Dec. 2, at Mountrail Bethel Home, Stanley. Cremation has taken place. Her memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at the Powers Lake Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Delores Virginia Ellis was born to George and Gertrude (Markel) Ellis in Stanley on Jan. 21, 1933. She was raised in the Stanley/Ross area and attended school there along with her siblings, Shirley Egger, Joyce Aho, John, Lyle, George and Eugene Ellis.
She was married to Albert Rambel and had 11 children: Charles, Steven, Curtis, Scott, Duane, Donna, Diane, Debra, Darla, Darcy and Susan (who died at 6 weeks old). She and Albert divorced in 1968. She married Orville Knutson on Oct. 13, 1979, and they lived on his farm west and north of Palermo. Orville died March 18, 2005.
Delores was employed at the Stanley Bakery from 1972 until 1981, when she went to work at the Mountrail Bethel Home for 17 years, working in the laundry. She retired from that position and went back to the Bethel Home, where she worked for about three years as a resident helper, finally retiring in 2003.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in October 1973. It was a very important part of her life and she stayed active in it until April 2013, when dementia made it impossible.
Delores is survived by: her children, Donna (Joe) Kovarik, Diane Rambel, Debra (Jim) Johnson, Darla (Kevin) Bryant, Darcy (Clint) Rehak, Charles Rambel, Steven Rambel and Scott Rambel; 24 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two husbands; an infant daughter; two sons; a granddaughter and a grandson.
