Missoula man dies in crash

ZAHL A 29-year-old Missoula, Mont., man died Thursday from injuries suffered in a 6:30 p.m. crash on U.S. Highway 85 northeast of Zahl, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The driver of the other vehicle survived but was injured.

The victim, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox southbound on the highway when he moved into the northbound lane to pass another vehicle when he collided head-on with a 2011 Kenworth T800 semi truck driven by Loren A. Shunkwiler, 54, of Williston.

The Equinox rotated counterclockwise and entered the west ditch, and the Kenworth went into the east ditch.

Shunkwiler was injured in the crash.
