Hutchinson CC crushes DCB in bowl game
HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Dakota College at Bottineau’s first bowl appearance in program history didn’t go the way it would have liked, falling 57-0 to No. 18 Hutchinson Community College in the Salt City Bowl on Saturday at Gowans Stadium.
The Lumberjacks (8-3) mustered just four yards on 61 plays, while surrendering 509 yards to the Blue Dragons (8-4). DCB had one drive that lasted longer than four plays and failed to pick up a first down on eight others.
DCB fell behind 20-0 less than midway through the opening quarter. HCC quarterback Frankie Seurer hit receiver Jabril Soloman for a 60-yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage. Seurer was named bowl MVP.
Special teams plagued the Lumberjacks as punter Kaelin Mozee’s had two snaps go over his head, whiffed on another and had a punt blocked. The Blue Dragons led 22-0 at halftime before scoring 35 points in the second half.
It was the most lopsided victory in the bowl’s five-year history.
