MSU booster club adds to board

of directors

The Minot State University Beaver Boosters Club added three members to its board of directors Monday.

Eric Schaeffer, Chris Schilken and Darrik Trudell joined the 15-member board of directors for the Beaver Booster club, which raises funds to support the academic and athletic goals of more than 300 MSU student-athletes.

Schaeffer – a Minot native – ran cross county and track and field for MSU from 1987-91.

Schilken is originally from Glenburn and graduated from MSU in 2006.

Trudell was a standout football player from 1999-2002. He was a first-team All-American running back for the Beavers and is a member of the MSU Athletic Hall of Fame.

UND’s Johnson collects conference honors

University of North Dakota men’s hockey forward Luke Johnson recorded two goals and two assists in a weekend sweep of Western Michigan and was named National Collegiate Hockey Conference rookie of the week.

Johnson tallied a pair of power-play goals on Friday and recorded two assists on Saturday. Johnson leads all NCHC rookies in scoring with eight points (3 goals, 5 assists). A fifth-round draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks, Johnson is third on the team in scoring with nine points.

UND’s weekend sweep was its first of the year. UND (7-7-2 overall, 5-5 NCHC) closes out the first half of its season at home against Northern Michigan on Friday and Saturday.
