Mavis always enjoyed music. Her parents bought an upright piano when she was about nine years old. Mavis and her sisters were constantly banging away on the piano. Mavis played piano at Gordon’s Sing Along Piano Bar for several years, along with playing for various bands, most recently with Judy’s Fun Time Band, playing at nursing homes and at various senior activities.

She also was an avid reader, loved classic movies, trips to the casino, and cooking big meals for her family and friends.

She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and sadly missed her eldest daughter, Gayle, who passed away in 2006 from cancer.

She was a member of Bread of Life Lutheran Church in Minot.
