Mary Robinson, 91, of Williston, died late Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at the Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home in Williston.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at the Bethel Lutheran Home Chapel in Williston at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. Father Russell Kovash will officiate and interment will follow at Rosehill Memorial Park cemetery in Minot, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Friday. Mary G. Robinson was born Feb. 8, 1922, on the family farm in Climax Township, near Grenora, the daughter of Andrew and Katherine (Feldewerd) Geltel. She was raised on the farm and attended Roosevelt County School through the eighth grade. She graduated from Grenora High School in 1940, and then attended one year of beauty school in Minot.
On Nov. 25, 1950, Mary was united in marriage to Lincoln “Link” Robinson in Minot. In 1955 the couple purchased the Speedway Dinner Club, west of Minot, where she was the boss, and everyone knew it. In 1982 the couple retired from the restaurant business. The couple traveled throughout the U.S. Together they enjoyed golf and their travels often included beautiful golf courses. Link suffered a stroke and Mary was there to take care of him for nearly 11 years at their home. He passed away in 2003.
Mary was raised in the Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot, and also attended St. Joseph Catholic Church while in Williston. Mary loved all animals. Rascal was her Bethel dog friend and Bear and Quenten filled her heart with joy as well. She also enjoyed reading and gardening, and was especially fond of flowers.
Mary is survived by: Her godson and nephew, Larry (Darlene) Geltel, who was very special to her and was her caretaker in her last years in Williston, and their children, Katie (Cole) Deichert and children, Eislynn and Graham, Kevin (Codi) Geltel, all very close to her, sisters, Hilda Johnson, of Hatton, and her children, Colleen and Mark; sister, Alice Rasmussen, of Langdon, and her children, Terry, Cheryl, Kathy, Doug and Linda. She is also survived by her brother Joe’s children, Marilyn, Betty, Jim, David, Kaye and Steve.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Link; sister, Helen Jetson; and brother, Joe Geltel.
Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Williston on Thursday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m; a Rosary Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 7 p.m. Friends may share memories and condolences with the family online at (www.fulkersons.com).
