Entities join forces to offer free oilfield safety training
NEW TOWN – WPX Energy, Fort Berthold Community College and Prairie Plains Safety Services will provide PEC safety training at no cost to participants and companies.
FBCC will host the activity as a part of its “Creating a Culture of Safety in Western North Dakota” and TREND grant programs. Prairie Plains Safety Services will provide the training. The class will be held Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a half-hour lunch on your own break.
The PEC Basic Orientation Safety Awareness course includes both Safe Gulf and Safe land. PEC was designed to the place of multiple operator orientations and to give each student a general idea of life and safety issues in the oil and gas industries. This one-day program meets some industry requirements and provides a basic understanding at an awareness level of certain general safety information that an employee should know before entering a company facility and while performing assigned work duties. More than 25 of the leading gas and oil operators accept this orientation as it meets their requirements.
Upon successful completion of the course, each student is issued a picture ID with a unique bar code. The student information is stored on an online database. There are no prerequisites for the course. Due to the demand of this type of training, the class may fill quickly.
