Intersection to temporarily go dark Friday morning
Traffic signals will be briefly out of commission at the intersection of Second Avenue and 16th Street Southwest Friday morning due to underground cable maintenance being done by Xcel Energy.
Xcel will cut the power to the signal in two 20-minute increments. The intersection will be dark between about 9:30 and 9:50 a.m. and 10:50 and 11:10 a.m. Because the increments are of a relatively short duration and during non-peak hours, the City of Minot will treat the intersection in accordance with state law and will not be placing stop signs. North Dakota law requires drivers to treat a “dark” signalized intersection as an all-way stop.
