Wilda Keller

Wilda Keller, 84, of Harvey, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, in Harvey. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, with prayer services Sunday at 7 p.m., at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Wilda Swedlund Keller was born June 21, 1929, in Harvey, N.D., to Roy and Bessie (Guernsey) Swedlund. She was raised in Harvey and graduated from Harvey High School in 1947. Wilda married the love of her life, Steve Keller, on July 21, 1947. Together, they purchased the Swedlund family home, where they raised their 10 children. Steve died in 2005.

Wilda was an active member of the St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, where she served as the choir director, president of the Altar Society, religious education teacher, and member of the Catholic Daughters. She was also active in the community, as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Harvey Eagles Auxiliary, Thursday Study Club, Harvey Art Council, Allied Concert Board and Harvey Golf Board.

Wilda and Steve took immense pride in keeping up their 13-acre estate with the help of their children and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and considered her family a gift from God. Photography was her passion with albums full of Kodak moments. Wilda also completed more than 50 oil paintings, most of which remain in the family. Her SPARK and SPARKLE graced the lives of many. “Mom was truly one of a kind and we hope the good Lord is ready for her!”

Wilda is survived by: three sons, Steven (Beckee), of Harvey, Geoff (Bev), Glendale, Ariz., Tom (Lori), of Becker, Minn.; five daughters, Paulette (Bob) Deutsch, Northwood, Julie (Rockie) Stavn, Bismarck, Mary (Carson) Steiner, Dickinson, Kathy (Kent) Taylor, Watford City, Debbie (Steve) Kourajian, of Harvey; daughter-in-law, Gail, Bismarck; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Una, Joyce, Audrey; and brother, Otis.

Wilda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve; and sons, Mike and Tim.
