James ‘Jim’ Gergen

James “Jim” Gergen, 46, Minot, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, in his home.

James was born Feb. 4, 1967, a son of Raymond and Annette (Andre) Gergen in Minot. He was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School. Jim furthered his education by attending the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.

Jim was united in marriage to Barbara Larson on April 19, 1998. To this union, two daughters were born, Lexi and Maria. Jim worked various part-time jobs throughout his lifetime, among his favorites, was his eight years with Dakota Pawn Brokers of Minot.

Jim was a member of the St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church of Minot.

He enjoyed sharing his music and art abilities with his children, along with his many nieces and nephews. Among his favorite times were at family gatherings, as family was top on his list. His faith was very important to him and he loved God, and had a special devotion for the angels which were often subjects of his artwork.

Jim is survived by: daughters, Lexi Gergen and Maria Gergen, both of Minot; their mother, Barbara Larson, Minot; his mother, Annette Gergen, Minot; siblings, Michael (Kellie) Gergen, Jamestown, Mark (Julie Levi) Gergen, San Diego, Joseph Gergen, Minneapolis, Thomas Gergen, Minneapolis, Timothy Gergen, Springlake Park, Minn., John (JoAnn) Gergen, Andover, Minn., Maureen (Arden) Jesz, Minot, Michele (Bernie) Koronka, Burlington, Ann (Wes) Kudrna, Bismarck, Teresa (Chance) Haakonson, St. Cloud, Minn.; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his father.

Divine Requiem Service: Monday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Vigil prayer service: Sunday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minot.

Visitation: Sunday, from 6 to 7 p.m., at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minot.
