UND’s Simpson earns second NCHC award
University of North Dakota junior captain Dillon Simpson was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Defenseman of the Week on Monday for the second time this season.
Simpson scored the game-winning goal and had an assist in Friday’s 5-3 win over Colorado College, and then added another assist Saturday in UND’s 3-2 win.
The 6-foot-2, 197-pounder leads all NCHC defensemen in scoring during league play with 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists) in 12 games.
UND, which is on a seven-game winning streak, visits Bemidji State on Friday for a nonconference matchup.
High-scoring Lions trounce Trojans
TURTLE LAKE – Bishop Ryan senior guard Brody Bosch scored 21 points to lead a balanced Lions squad past Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky 80-59 Monday in a non-district matchup.
Teammates Austin Eggl (15 points), Jared Will (14) and Nick Berentson (10) joined Bosch in double figures.
Sophomore Hunter Jacobs posted a game-high 22 points for the Trojans (3-8).
Ryan (6-3) hosts Kenmare tonight at 7:15 and TL-M-M travels to Washburn on Thursday.
