MSU drops 2-1 decsion at Williston
WILLISTON – Williston State’s Darius Cole netted a goal 1:44 into overtime to lift the Tetons to a 2-1 win over the Minot State University men’s club hockey team on Wednesday.
Tyler Ampe turned away 26 shots to record the victory for Williston State, while Wyatt Waselenchuk made 27 saves in the losses for MSU.
“You have to give Williston State and their coach, Seamus Gregory, (credit) for once again finding a way to win,” MSU coach Wade Regier said in a press release. “The third game in a row that has gone to OT and the third time we haven’t gotten it done. It shows what a great rivalry this has become.”
The Beavers (16-6-2) scored 38 seconds into the contest on a Jared McIntosh lamp-lighter, but were held scoreless the rest of the way.
Williston State’s Matt Berens scored the equalizer at 15:09 of the first period.
MSU hosts Oakland on Jan. 24.
