Magicians win three duals

GRAND FORKS – The Minot High School wrestling team opened the Grand Forks Multiple with three dual victories Friday.

The Magicians defeated Devils Lake 60-15, Grand Forks Red River 51-20 and Fargo South 42-34.

MHS freshman Carson Mosser posted pins in all of his matches at 126 pounds. He pinned Devils Lake’s Jace Estenson in 1:21, GFRR’s Dylan Dahlstrom in 3:30 and South’s Babu Kiromba in 3:44.

“He was more aggressive,” MHS coach Nolan Spooner said. “He came out with some attitude and imposed his will on his opponents.”

Minot recorded three pins at 106, too. Sophomore Matthew Leier took down Devils Lake’s James Fisk in 47 seconds and eighth-grader Brody Armstrong pinned GFRR’s Trey Larimer in 2:37 and South’s Muhitira Augustine in 5:14.

The Grand Forks Multiple concludes this morning at 10.

Fast start helps Lions top Surrey

SURREY – The Bishop Ryan boys basketball team jumped out to a 21-2 lead after one quarter and coasted to a 58-33 victory against Surrey on Friday in a District 12 contest.

Ryan senior guard Brody Bosch recorded a game-high 20 points and junior forward Jared Will added 12. The Lions (8-3 overall, 2-1 district) led 37-10 at halftime.

Bridger Urban paced the Mustangs (3-9, 0-3) with eight points, but they struggled to find the basket, hitting just nine shots. Taylor Rice and Jacob Burckhard each finished with seven points.

The Lions play at No. 5 Des Lacs-Burlington on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

Knights notch win over Glenburn

GLENBURN – Our Redeemer’s Christian School junior forward Davis Koppinger scored a game-high 26 points and the Knights defeated Glenburn 81-36 in a District 12 matchup Friday.

ORCS senior Micah Jacobsen finished with 12 points and sophomores Ben Talley and Josh VanLith each recorded nine. Nine Knights recorded a basket.

ORCS (12-2 overall, 3-0 district) limited the Panthers (2-9, 1-2) to 14 second-half points and just six in the third quarter. Glenburn’s Dustin Weeks tallied a team-high 17 points and was the only Panther in double figures.

The Knights host Sawyer on Monday at 7:15 p.m.

Majettes blow out Devils Lake

Minot High School girls junior defender Taryn Love scored the game’s first goal at 2:56 of the first period and the Majettes never looked back, crushing Devils Lake 26-0 on Friday at Maysa Arena.

The Majettes (10-2 overall, 8-2 state) scored 11 goals in the first, 10 in the second and five in the third, and recorded 74 shots on Devils Lake goaltender Brianna Holtz, who finished with 48 saves.

MHS freshman forward Mackinzy MacIver finished with a game-high 11 points (four goals, seven assists) and classmate Bryanna Bergeron netted six goals and three helpers. Eight Minot skaters recorded multiple goals.

The Firebirds (0-12, 0-12) managed just five shots on MHS senior goaltender Sydney Swanson.

The Majettes host Grand Forks today at 2 p.m. at Maysa Arena.
