Gordon Harder, 85, Minot, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, in a Minot hospital.
Gordon Eugene Harder was born Jan. 21, 1928, the son of Ernest and Martha (Knudsvig) Harder, in Wildrose. Gordon was raised and educated in Wildrose.
Gordon married Nellie Toy in Tacoma, Wash., on Oct. 11, 1944. Gordon worked for a short time at Carsten’s in Tacoma. In 1945 Gordon started working for Soo Line and moved his family to Underwood. While working for the railroad they made their home in various cities in North Dakota and in 1980 settled in Minot. Gordon retired in 1989. After retirement Gordon worked at Walmart as a greeter and later at McDonalds. Nellie passed away Aug. 10, 2013.
Gordon enjoyed working and his family was his pride and joy. He was active in the construction and operating of the railroad at Roosevelt Park. He also volunteered at the Minot Railroad Museum. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving family includes: son, Terry (Kathy) Harder, Sommerville, S.C.; daughters, Jayne Kautzman, Jamestown, and Judy (Gaylen) Ness, Minot; grandchildren, Ned (Sarah) Kautzman, Jeremy (Deanna) Ness, Shayna (Levi) Harder-Wiggins and Lindsey Ness; great-grandchildren, Judah Reeves, Reese Kautzman and Ethan Ness; an aunt, Mabel Studsrud, Williston; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gordon was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Nellie; granddaughter, Ramey Reeves; two brothers, Vernon and Lyle; and a sister, Delores Davidson.
Funeral: Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
