Winifred ‘Janet’ Kinney
Winifred “Janet” Kinney, 82, Minot, passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, in a Minot hospital.
Janet was born June 20, 1931, in Beccles, England, the daughter of John and Viveran (King) Leathley. Janet was united in marriage to Clayton Kinney on Jan. 28, 1953, in England. The couple was stationed in various air bases all over the world and retired in Minot in 1972.
Janet was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the AMVETS and the Women of the Moose, all of Minot.
Survivors: children, David (Gloria) Kinney, Berthold, Donald Kinney, Minot, Pauline Brown, of Selma, N.C., Father Leo Kinney, Larimore, and Lynne (Kevin Rosenberg) Rhoades, Minot; grandchildren, Wilton (Kristine) Brown III, Pittsboro, N.C., Mark Brown, Fargo, Amanda Kinney, Detroit Lakes, Minn., Adam Brown, of Selma, N.C., Benjamin Rhoades, Minot, Carolyn Rhoades and her fiance James Burrous, Lawrenceville, Pa., and Karley Kinney, Leeds; great-grandchildren, Joshua Kinney, Logan Brown, Trinity Burrous, Brycine Kinney and Wilton Brown IV; stepgrandchildren, Kelsey and Kinley Slauter, Jason and Aaron Millage, Jennifer Mardesich and Reina White Owl; daughter-in-law, Lana Kinney, Rapid City, S.D.; and brother, Andrew (Marie) Leathley, of England; and numerous extended family members.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; son, Peter; brother, Gug; and sister, Marty and fiance James St. Croix.
Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot.
Visitation: Friday, Jan. 24, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Moose Charities or the Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons.
