WSC’s Maestas to sign with

Eastern Oregon

The Williston State softball team

announced Monday that sophomore utility player Corinna Maestas intends to sign with Eastern Oregon for the 2014-15 season.

Maestas – a native of Clarkston, Wash. – batted .217 her freshman season with three doubles, three RBIs and six stolen bases. She played second base and outfield for the Tetons in their inaugural season.

“I really liked the campus and overall atmosphere of Eastern Oregon,” Maestas said in a press release. “What really intrigued me the most were the programs Eastern Oregon offered. School is the most important part of this process to me and they provide the programs that I want to be involved in to help me toward my future career.”

Once signed, Maestas will become the first Teton softball player to sign with a four-year school.

WSC baseball team adds

infielder

The Williston State baseball team has signed infielder Zach Donahoo to a national letter of intent, the program announced Monday.

The Gillette, Wyo., native hit .220 with 28 runs, 21 RBIs and 15 stolen bases in 60 games for the Gillette Roughriders American Legion team. He was an everyday starting shortstop and the team’s top relief pitcher.

“We are very excited to add Zach to our program,” WSC coach Shawn Cote said in a press release. “Zach emulates everything our program is about: relentless, hard work, dedication and loyalty. Our program has been successful in the past because we get kids like Zach that refuse to give up and are relentless in their preparation.”
