Fun with science!
A preschool science club at Montessori of Minot will hold its first science fair on Thursday. Judges will judge projects from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. that day and awards will be presented at 6 p.m., with a reception to follow.
Dyan Underhill, the parent of a child at the school, created the Wise Owl Science Club as an extracurricular group for the 3- to 5-year-olds at the school. Underhill does a different hands-on science experiment with the children when they meet every week.
“During the fall/winter sessions of the club we have dissected owl pellets, launched film canister rockets, poured density towers with liquid, created wizard potions with acid reactions, made our own paper, examined leaves and created leaf chromatographs, studied phosphorescence by creating firefly jars, and experimented with force and motion by racing cars on different surfaces,” said Underhill, who has a Ph.D.
