RUMMAGE, BAKE SALE PLANNED Vincent United Methodist Women, of Minot, will hold a rummage sale and bake sale on Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church at 1024-2nd St. SE. Customers are asked to use the south entrance to the church.

A lunch of soup and sandwiches will be served from 11 a.m. until gone. Sweet treats and coffee will be served, starting at 9 a.m.

Bake sale items will include buns, breads, kuchen, bars and cookies. Bag bargains will be available from 1 to 2 p.m.

LUTEFISK, MEATBALL DINNER PLANNED IN WILLISTON First Lutheran Church, in Williston, will hold its 81st annual lutefisk and meatball dinner Feb. 22 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., or until the food runs out, in the church fellowship hall.

Tickets are available at the church office Monday through Friday. The cost is $18 for adults; $8 for students through junior high school; and $2 for preschoolers. There will be delivery service until 3 p.m., and take-out service from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. People should call the church, 572-6363, on the day of the dinner to arrange these services.

DATES SET FOR ANNUAL WOMEN’S RETREAT The Women’s Ministry of First Baptist Church of Minot is hosting their 2014 Women’s Retreat, “One Wise Woman” April 11 and 12 at the Ann Nicole Nelson Hall at Minot State University. The retreat schedule is Friday 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to noon.

The featured speaker will be Lysa TerKeurst, with Proverbs 31 Ministries. Lysa TerKeurst is a New York Times best-selling author and speaker who helps everyday women live an adventure of faith. For more information on TerKeurst, visit her website at

SWISS STEAK DINNER TO BE SERVED IN GRANVILLE Women of the ELCA of First Lutheran Church in Granville will be serving a Swiss steak dinner on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m.

Cost of the dinner will be $7.50 per plate.

Bazaar items, baked goods and cards will be for sale during the dinner.

MOEN RETIRING; EVENTS PLANNED TO HONOR HER Carol Moen, who retired from coordinating volunteers and directing education at Christ Lutheran Church, will be honored Feb. 23 at the church.

A potluck dinner will follow the 10:45 a.m. worship service. A cake reception from 1 to 2:30 p.m. will include a program at 1:15. The events are open to the public.

Moen, a native of Roseau, Minn., studied parish work at the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. Her first call was to First Lutheran Church in Rugby in 1964. She met and married Selmer Moen and they returned to Minneapolis where she worked at church headquarters from 1966 to 1971. The Moens then lived in Ohio, where their two children were born.

They moved to Minot in 1977 and she began working at Christ Lutheran in 1984. Her ministry expanded into lay ministry work and later directing the church’s education program was added to her duties.

PRIMETIMERS GROUP TO MEET The PrimeTimers Fellowship group will meet Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Our Redeemer’s Church, 700-16th Ave. SE.

Amanda Olson, of Minot, will provide a music program and there will be a white elephant exchange.

Group II will be servers.

BREAKFAST TO BENEFIT SEMINARIANS The Minot Vocations Club will serve a breakfast Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the lower level of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 707-16th Ave. SW. Scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and French toast will be served.

A freewill offering will be received. Proceeds of the event will help seminarians.
