TeRoy was born Oct. 24, 1923, near Underwood to Walter and Bertha (Anderson) Repnow. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He enjoyed his childhood visits to his grandparents, Abraham T. and Julia (Vigdahl) Anderson. As a young man, he ran a dray service in Washburn. He attended school in Underwood.
He graduated from Edison Vocational School in Seattle, Wash., as a master electrician. Upon returning to North Dakota, he was employed as a sheet metal worker. In time, he established Underwood Electric, which he operated for over 50 years, doing homestead and commercial wiring.
He was united in marriage to Marian E. Christensen on June 18, 1952, at Mercer. In addition to establishing his electrical business, they together started the Underwood Laundromat, Coast to Coast Hardware, and a mobile home park. They enjoyed being business owners and made many lifelong friendships in their ventures.
TeRoy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Underwood, where he served as an elder. He also was a former member of the Underwood Civic Club, North Dakota Health Care Association, Lake Sakakawea Association, and he volunteered for 46 years with the Underwood Fire, Ambulance and Rescue. He was a lifetime member of the North Dakota Fire Fighters Association.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending family and class reunions, socializing at auction sales, collecting antiques, riding bike, playing the harmonica, and was an avid milk bottle collector. He was a life-long reader who valued the news and entertainment printed in the several newspapers he read weekly. He and Marian enjoyed gardening together. He had a passion for planting apple trees and much of the abundance Marian baked into his favorite delicious apple pies. He was often heard to say “Underwood has been good to me.” A caring, loving, and giving man with a twinkle in his eye and a wonderful sense of humor, he will be missed by his family and friends.
