EPA?rules are a disaster

Steven Moen, Minot

As more and more issues come to light over the Obamacare mandate such as the loss of 2.5 million jobs, the astronomical raise in cost, especially for people who earn more than poverty levels we find out there is yet another land mine just waiting to explode in the grass.

It seems the EPA decided on its own to regulate CO2 emissions from power plants, this in spite of the fact it is in violation of the 2005 Clean Air Act. But what does that matter, it seems this administration can ignore laws, create laws or change them on a whim without any input from Congress or the people.

Why is this disaster waiting to happen? First it is extremely expensive to implement and second it will dramatically reduce the output of all the coal plants affected. The industry estimates the average electric bill of the consumer will increase 40-50 percent, in actuality it will most likely double or triple. All this just to placate people who believe a hoax perpetrated by Al Gore as a power grab.

I don’t know about you but this will throw a huge monkey wrench in my household budget. I believe many will no longer be able to pay it and many businesses will be forced to either pay the electric company or their employees so I believe we will see another big reduction in the work force and huge increase in everything we purchase because as their costs go up most of them get passed on to the consumer.

I think it is high time North Dakota follows the example of Texas and issue a statement declaring any new rulings from the EPA null and void and a violation of North Dakota states rights.
