Alvina Martin, 91, Minot, formerly of Steele, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at ManorCare in Minot.
Alvina was born July 22, 1922, the daughter of Chris and Christina Morlock, and attended rural schools at Pettibone. Alvina married David Martin on Nov. 26, 1942, and the couple farmed northwest of Steele until 1991, when they retired and moved to Steele.
Alvina enjoyed sewing, embroidering, gardening, cooking, baking, bowling, bingo, pokeno, playing cards and spending time with family and all of her friends at the Wellington Assisted Living Center for the past seven years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Alvina was a member of Excelsior Homemaker’s Club, UMW, election judge of many years at Excelsior Township and Steele United Methodist Church.
Alvina is survived by: one son, Duane (Nita) Martin, Minot; two daughters, Diane (Cliff) Jacobson, Minot, and Sandy (Allan) Lamp, Jamestown; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; her parents; brothers; one sister; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at the United Methodist Church, Steele, with Rev. Steve Behrens and Rev. Debra Ball-Kilbourne officiating.
Spring burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Steele.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at Eastgate-Steele Memorial Chapel, Steele, where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, Steele, or Faith United Methodist Church, Minot.
