More pizza, please

A pizza joint is a pizza joint, right? It is if it’s an Uncle Maddio’s.

Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint is scheduled to open in Minot later this spring. It will be the first venture to the northern United States for the Atlanta-based pizza chain that offers what they believe many eager customers desire fast, casual pizza exactly they way they want it.

The Maddio’s claim is that they are the original create your own pizza joint, customized pizza made fresh and fast. Patrons choose their favorite toppings from 45 selections of cheese, meat and veggies. They also have a choice of three different dough options and six kinds of pizza sauce. The pizza is made and served in six minutes.

Troy and Jamie Mattern will be opening Uncle Maddio’s in the north end of a strip mall at Minot’s Southgate Crossing complex. The mini-mall is enclosed but remains under construction on 16th Avenue Southwest in front of Gordmans. The Matterns also have plans to open a second Maddio’s in Fargo later this summer.

What makes Maddio’s different from other pizza restaurants? Certainly choosing ingredients and having the pizza made directly in front of the customer. Maddio’s also makes their own pizza dough in-store each day traditional, whole wheat or gluten free. The result, claims Maddio’s, is that they deliver “your perfect pizza.” Once a customer chooses the crust and toppings, the concoction is placed into one of Maddio’s specialized pizza ovens.

Maddio’s is where “traditional pizza-making philosophy meets a modern pizza-making kitchen. Fresh. Fast. Personalized,” claims their website. Personal-size pizzas will sell for less than $10. Other menu items include panini and salads.

Uncle Maddio’s is experiencing a rapid expansion in the U.S. with 165 stores currently in development. The arrival of Maddio’s will mean an additional choice for those wishing to purchase a lunch or dinner in southwest Minot. Five Guys Burgers and Fries is scheduled to open this spring in the opposite end of the strip mall from Maddio’s. Sonic opened late last year to the south of the strip mall and Fuddrucker’s restaurant is under construction in the same vicinity.
