Marilyn Rose Hanson, 79, Grand Rapids, Minn., formerly of Minot, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at a Grand Rapids nursing home.
Marilyn (Swenson) Hanson was born Dec. 31, 1932, to Anton and Nellie Swenson, in Garrison. Marilyn attended both grade school and high school in Garrison.
Her first job was as a waitress. She also worked as a nurse’s aide and cook at Grandview for 17 years. Marilyn was married to Roy Hanson on Dec. 9, 1956. In 1961 Marilyn and Roy moved to Cambridge, Minn.
Marilyn is survived by: her five children, daughters, Patty (Dennis) Pluff, Brainerd, Minn., Susan Hanson, Colorado Springs, Colo., Shirley (Mike) Irwin, Brooklyn Park Minn., and Karen Hanson, Maui, Hawaii; son, Roger (Marsha) Hanson, Cadott, Wis; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Hetletvedt; and brother, Duane Swenson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Nellie Swenson; husband, Roy Hanson; brother, George Swenson; and sister, Alice (Swenson) Bouer.
Funeral service: Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
Visitation: Friday, Feb. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
