About 300 Minot AFB airmen prepare for Pacific deployment
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE B-52 Stratofortresses from the 69th Bomb Squadron and about 300 airmen from Minot Air Force Base are set to deploy in early March to Andersen AFB, Guam.
In addition to the operators of the 69th Bomb Squadron, a wide variety of base organizations will work in tandem to meet the requirements for the deployment, to include the 5th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, the 5th Munitions Squadron, the 5th Maintenance Squadron and the 5th Operations Support Squadron.
The deployment demonstrates continuing U.S. commitment to stability and security in the Asia-Pacific Region. Air Force Global Strike Command continues to provide support to the U.S. Pacific Commands’ continuous bomber presence in the region.
Movement of U.S. Air Force bombers into the Western Pacific has been ongoing since March 2004, as the U.S. Pacific Command adjusts its force posture to maintain a prudent deterrent capability.
