Plan includes sewer project
WASHINGTON A $2.5 million sanitary sewer extension project in Minot is included in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ work plan for fiscal year 2014, Sens. John Hoeven, R-N.D., and Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., announced Tuesday.
The project would service the Crystal Springs and Beaver Creek developments along with opening up additional acres south of Minot for development of residential housing.
The work is part of a multi-phase project being built over about 20 years, said Dan Jonasson, Minot public works director. Several portions of the project already are under construction with Corps, state and local funding.
The city had requested $5.5 million for the next phase. Bonding could provide additional money to supplement the $2.5 million in Corps funding, but the city also will review the proposed scope of work to determine how best to proceed with available funding, Jonasson said.
