Plane makes emergency landing
A 1971 Piper Cherokee 140 plane departed from Minot with the intended destination of Dickinson Saturday but suffered mechanical engine failure soon after launch at around 5:30 p.m.
The lone occupant and pilot, Gordon Pavlicek, 66, Minot, performed an emergency landing in a farm field in the area of 46th Street and 149th Avenue Southwest, according to a news release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The landing was successful. Pavlicek suffered no injuries and the only damage to the plane was the engine failure that necessitated the landing.
