Norsk Høstfest headliners announced
Organizers of this year’s Norsk Hostfest announced its starring lineup Wednesday for the Scandinavian festival, scheduled to run from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4. In its 37th consecutive year, Hostfest draws visitors from around the world to celebrate the music, cuisine, and cultures of Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark and Finland.
“We like to think we’re offering something for everyone this year,” said festival president David Reiten in a prepared statement.
Noted trumpeter Doc Severinsen and the Minot Symphony Orchestra will kick off the 2014 Hostfest at its Tuesday evening opening event.
Over the course of five nights and four days, Great Hall of the Vikings acts will also include Irish crooner Daniel O’Donnell, the gospel group Gaither Vocal Band, “Here’s your sign” comic Bill Engvall, country singer Merle Haggard, Josh Turner and Danielle Bradbery, inspirational singer BJ Thomas, 1960s beat band Herman’s Hermits with Peter Noone, and country artist Jennifer Nettles.
The cultural festival will also feature various stage acts during the day, including patron favorites like Bjro Haaland, Williams & Ree, and the Ricky Nelson tribute by sons Gunnar and Matthew Nelson. Making first appearances will be Swedish magicians Brynolf & Ljung, country group Diamond Rio, and the Nordic Tenors.
